Before founding Apex Aviation, Andrew operated Andrew Serrazina Aviation — an aviation education business focused on pilot training, virtual ground schools, checkride preparation, and proficiency development. Through that work he built a growing audience of pilots and aviation enthusiasts while generating more than 2.5 million views of aviation education content across social media platforms.
Andrew's view on instrument training is direct: most IFR pilots are not as proficient as they think they are, and most recurrent training is too easy to actually change that. An IPC that doesn't challenge you isn't improving you — it's just updating your logbook.
He chose simulator-first as the Apex model because it's the only environment where deliberate practice is actually possible. In an aircraft, you're constrained by weather, cost, safety margins, and the limits of what a CFI can safely induce. In the AATD, you can pause at the FAF and discuss technique. You can fail the vacuum pump at 800 AGL. You can run the same missed approach until the response is automatic. That's where real learning happens.
